Loneliness

So many people

As of 2008 the world population is an estimated 6.6 billion people. The kids will know what I mean when I say that's a lot of chances for someone to be up in your grill. The adults will understand that it can mean fewer parking places. Still, with so many people on the planet, some feel a sense of isolation.

Looking for Love (in all the wrong places)

Commercials for Date Lines, singles bars, online dating, speed dating, and even people calling 911 just to get someone to talk to them. People are looking for love or at least companionship. This isn't confined to the adult population. There are some kids who join gangs to keep from being alone. Children acting like those who shun them just to fit in. All these methods and still no true happiness.

Finding Love

True happiness will not be found if looking to or conforming to the world You must step out of the world, so to speak, and into the body of Christ, the church. That is where we are family, the bride of Christ. Where we have a shepherd and many members to combat loneliness and all other problems. Some are figuring this out. They are looking to God's word in their time of need. Many have used the web searching bible passages for loneliness. When they do some get discouraged when they see no specific passage. Many passages speak of God's love for us though may seem to overlook loneliness. The answer is there.

Sometimes you must look further than specific verses. God wants good things for us. He also wants us to be like Him. He wants us to be part of His family and to give us gifts. Look at what God expects from us. Study on doing God's work. For in doing His work not only are you drawn closer to Him but also to others. God rewards those who deserve rewarding. We must not sit back pondering on ourselves looking for fulfillment while neglecting our duties to God and others. If we do we can find ourselves empty and lonely. God does not want us to be alone. God Himself, after creating Adam, said "...It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." Genesis 2:18

I said that the "answer is there" and mentioned "doing God's work." Here is what I am getting at. In this highly populated world there are so many in need. There are elderly, disabled, poor, handicapped. There are those, having done God's work, remain depressed and lonely waiting for the one God will send their way. You may be that one. So many people with so much love to give. There quite a few reasons for loneliness. I believe most of them may come down to who we are looking for to stop it. We can set a trap for ourselves when only looking for the love and companionship of a lover not yet met, or of a distanced friend or family member. If you do that you may overlook the love of many other people. Don't wait on someone to come along and take away loneliness. Seek out those in need.

A boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, or reconciliation may not come when you are looking. In the mean time reach out. We must love to be loved.

The Longing Soul

Psalm 107:8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. KJV
