Parents
Being a parent
Are you a parent or are you thinking of having children? God help you. Being a parent is one of the greatest joys you can experience in life. It can also be one of the most frustrating, stressful, and scary things you ever do.
I don't think anyone ever sets out to be a bad parent. We want wonderful lives for our children. We want for them to have a nice home, nice clothing, good food. We want them to get a good education, good career, and we would like to leave something for them when we pass on. Parents want to give every good gift they can to their children. The greatest gift we can give them is to raise them walk as Christ.
Plan for the future
There is more to the life of our children than having nice things. Usually when we think of planning for their future we think of education and finance. There is a future beyond all that. What we should want most for our children and should think of most is their salvation. That is the thing that can slip by us. For some it may not even enter the mind. What parent -non believers excluded- does not want for their child to receive salvation? We should always make it a point to ask ourselves "What am I leading my child to? Heaven or hell." No one wants hell for their child.
Follow God's Directions
I said being a parent can be scary. That doesn't just pertain to being afraid of your child being harmed or getting sick. Those things can happen. There are no guarantees on that. There are a few things God says to do for your child. If you do them then you can remove the biggest fear of all.
