Family
Time
Time. What is it? On one hand it is nothing more that a means of keeping track of events. Nothing more than marks on a watch or calender. It is how we know when to get up, go to school, work, appointments, or bed. It is how we know when to take the cake out of the oven or catch that show on t.v.. If we have enough of it we can have an excuse to take a nap, watch that show, hang out, do nothing. If we don't have enough then it makes us hurry, rush, race, run, fly, worry, stress, and usually when we did all that we still really did nothing.
On the other hand time is a precious commodity. Most of us would like to spend as much time as possible with our families. The reality is that many of us do not. With work, school, appointments, and other activities much of our time is spent outside of the home. In the home much of our time may be spent on household duties and much of it doing our own thing.
Remember also to make time for God. He is after all the one who blessed us with our families. There is time we should spend alone in prayer and meditation on the word of God. There is also much time we can spend with our family and God together.
Spending time together is important for any family. In fact not doing so can have an adverse affect. A few of these can be:
- A distance can form in relationships.
- Feelings of loneliness may occur.
- Time spent with harmful influences.
- Problems of family members unnoticed.
- Feelings of loss or regret later in life.
Time is precious because life is short. We need to think hard about what the important things really are and set our time for them. We all have responsibilities. The time left after them should be spent wisely and carefully.
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what will be on the morrow: For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Websters
It is a sad thing to realized you don't even now the people you live with or don't know what is going on in their lives. Making good choices about what we do with our time can help make a happy family.
