How are you known?

Proverbs 20:11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. KJV

It is wrongly believed by many that what you do as a child doesn't count. Most of us have heard the terms "Boys will be boys." or "They're just being kids." Sadly this wrong way of thinking is most often spread by adults. Even some church going adults, when conversation turns to their childhood, will often smile mischeviously when they speak of the bad things they may have done.

Think about it this way. Would God, who wants us to be like Christ, ever want us to be naughty or have any bad ways? No. He wants us to always be like Christ. How did Christ act? He was humble, loving, caring, loyal, thankful, submissive, giving, prayerful, and always obedient. If we start acting in wrong ways at any age they can become habit. Whether they are habit or not much of the time we do not pay attention when we are being bad. Others notice though. The way we act and treat others is how we are known. How do you think you are known? Is it the way you want? Does it glorify God? Does it honor your mother and father?

From the time we are young we are growing. Not just our bodies. We are also growing in spirit, wisdom, and knowledge. We are to take the proper steps to grow into someone who can become part of God's family. So how we are. How we are known is as important when we are young as when we are adults. Remember if we lose our tempers easily we are known that way. If we lie we are known as liars. If we steal we are known as thieves. on the other hand. If you are humble, loving, caring, loyal, thankful, submissive, giving, prayerful, and obedient then you are known as a good, decent, child of God. Also remember nothing you do stays hidden. Others may not see but God will find out.

Psalm 44: 20 If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; 21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. KJV

Psalm 90:8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance. KJV

Ecclesiastes 12: 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. KJV

Jeremiah 23:24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. KJV

Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. KJV

Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. KJV

I think you get the picture. You are known by your doings even if you think no one sees. So think about how you want to be known. Most importantly how you want to be known by God, our heavenly father. May God bless you.
