Poetry

Along The Way has added this section for poetry with a Christian theme. Some (marked Thomas Abernathy) are the property of the owner of this site. They are copyright protected. You may, however, link to them. Also you may send them in emails if you keep the name of the author with the poems. A link back to http://alongtheway.110mb.com/ in the email would be nice :)

Troubled Masses

Riding poor and tired on starving asses too weak to break free.
Too sick to care about enemies across polluted seas.
Crumbled roads with rusted cars we can't afford to use
No more electricity so we won't hear it on the news

Food no longer in the stores it was tainted anyway
Why all the honey bees have left no one can really say
No more idols to run amok or police to give chase
All so busy trying to survive in this barren waste

We know why it all went wrong yes we all know well
We forgot The one true God and traded life for hell
But don't say we miss the past or tell it's evil story
It is full of aborted babes and truly has no glory

Thomas Abernathy (aka. tjustleft)

Love Is The Answer

What sheds it's blood for our sakes
and seeks to give not to take.
What fuels the fire in a heart,
comes to stay and never part.
What holds your hand when you're afraid,
can be given and can be made.
What sees your hurt and feels the pain
or gives a rainbow with the rain.
What knows the times it shouldn't hurry
and the moment it should not tarry.
What cast a shadow on your doubt
or bear your burdens and not walk out.
What will forgive a hurtful sin
and if let go come back again.

Thomas Abernathy (aka. tjustleft)

This next is from an English Hymnal. Oddly I first heard it as the begining of another song from a Heavy Metal band when I was in Highschool.

O God of Earth and Alter

O God of earth and altar,
Bow down and hear our cry,
Our earthly rulers falter,
Our people drift and die
The walls of gold entomb us,
The swords of scorn divide,
Take not thy thunder from us,
But take away our pride.

From all that terror teaches,
From lies of tongue and pen,
From all the easy speeches
That comfort cruel men,
From sale and profanation,
Of honour and the sword,
From sleep and from damnation,
Deliver us, good Lord!

Tie in a living tether
The prince and priest and thrall,
Bind all our lives together,
Smite us and save us all;
In ire and exultation
Aflame with faith, and free,
Lift up a living nation,
A single sword to thee.

English Hymnal, G.K. Chesterton

I hope you enjoy this new section. More poetry will be added as time allows.

May God bless you all
